Pathophysiological Basis of Treatment in Convalescent Rehabilitation

●Masaharu Sato
Dr. Masaharu Sato is currently the director of Takarazuka Rehabilitation Hospital.
He graduated from Shinshu University Medical School in 1974.
He is originally a neurosurgeon and began his clinical experience at Department of Neurosurgery Osaka University, where he obtained his board certification in neurosurgery.
After that, he conducted experimental research on cerebral circulation and metabolism at Max- Planck Institut für Hirnforschung （Prof. WD. Heiss） in Cologne, West Germany for 2 years.
He received Medical Doctor Thesis （Osaka University Medical School） （Prof. T. Hayakawa） in 1985.
Afterwards, clinical work on head injury and stroke was conducted at Depatment of Emergency Medicine Kawasaki Medical University （Prof. A. Kohama, Prof. C. Fujii） for 4 years.
In addition, he was engaged in clinical work on brain tumors, stroke, pediatric neurosurgery, and experimental research on cerebral circulation and metabolism at Department of Neurosurgery Kinki University （Prof. M. Ioku） for 4.5 years.
Further, clinical work on brain tumor and aneurysm surgery has been conducted at Toyonaka Municipal Hospital Stroke Center as chairman.
He has specialist's qualifications from Japanese Society of Neurosurgery, Society of Stroke, Society of Emergency Medicine （former）, Society of Dementia, and Society of Rehabilitation.
He is also an active member of International Congress of CBF and Metabolism.
Currently, as a culmination of these basic to clinical experiences, he is focusing on the molecular biological change in the convalescent stage.

●Junji Taguchi
Dr. Junji Taguchi is currently the chief director of Takarazuka Rehabilitation Hospital.
He graduated from Ehime University Medical School in 1982.
He is also originally a neurosurgeon and began his clinical experience at Department of Neurosurgery Osaka.
